Emily paints in an attached studio in her Chicago apartment. Her primary medium is acrylic paint. Set atop a signature gold foundation are objects of the throwaway culture of her city: plastic bags and cups, cigarettes and glazed donuts.
Portraying American consumer objects and midwestern skies filled with ethereal light and roiling white clouds, Emily casts nostalgia through her audience, connecting the there-and-then”memories of their pasts to the here-and-now of collective human consciousness.
Emily shows her work in Chicago galleries and local fairs.
